Letter of Permission

The Letter of Permission is for Program Students who would like to use courses towards the MAIS program. If a student has previously completed a course and would like to transfer that course towards the program, they may submit a Transfer Credit request.

Program Students may complete up to five graduate-level courses (15 credits) at other post-secondary educational institutions as part of their program of study with MAIS. Students who wish to complete courses at other institutions must contact the MAIS Office to obtain the Director's or Associate Director's permission. Applications for permission must include:

  • a Letter of Permission Request Form and fee,
  • A written statement that explains why the student wishes to complete courses at another institution, how those courses relate to one another, and how they will contribute to the student's overall learning goal(s), and
  • Detailed course outlines (that include prescribed readings and assessment models) and the names and credentials of instructors for each course that will be completed at another institution. If approved, the Office of the Registrar will issue a Letter of Permission.

Letter of Permission requests should be made at least one month prior to the registration deadline of the institution hosting the course. To obtain course credit(s), the student must have the host institutions submit an Official Transcript to the MAIS Program Administrator.
